Film Fund celebrates in style Yoram Gaon, Harel Moyal and a host of other stars will turn out this Friday at the Heichal HaTarbut in Tel Aviv to help the Israel Film Fund celebrate 25 years since its founding. A cast of 30 singers, actors and dancers will take part in the Fund's production of Like a Movie ("K'mo Baseret"), a production featuring song and dance numbers borrowed from recent and classic Israeli movies including Kazablan, Officer Azoulai and Turn Left at the End of the World. Friday's show will be the first of 30, with the production set to travel to Jerusalem and Haifa after its Tel Aviv premiere. YES screens winning documentaries The 2006 Academy Awards won't be distributed until March 5, but Oscar fans can get their fill of past winners and nominees every night of the week preceding the big event. Beginning Feb. 26, YES Docu will screen a different documentary every night at 9:30, with each film a former winner or nominee. The series kicks off with Hardwood, the 2004 nominee by Hubert Davis exploring the director's relationship with his father, former Harlem Globetrotter Mel Davis. Other films include the 2005 winner, Born Into Brothels, about the children of prostitutes in Calcutta, and Super Size Me, a 2005 nominee exploring the health effects of a McDonald's-based diet.
