Fran Drescher is going from The Nanny on television to playing one of Eric McCormack's ex-girlfriends in Neil Labute's play Some Girl(s) off-Broadway.
Drescher will portray a Boston professor in the American premiere of the play, which opens June 8 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. In it, McCormack, whose TV series Will & Grace is now in its final season, plays a soon-to-be engaged man saying goodbye to four ex-girlfriends as he prepares to get married. The other three women in Some Girl(s) will be portrayed by Maura Tierney, Brooke Smith and Judy Reyes. Some Girl(s) was a hit last year in London, starring David Schwimmer, who will open on Broadway in May in a revival of Herman Wouk's The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial.
LaBute's plays include The Shape of Things and Fat Pig, which had its Hebrew-language debut in Tel Aviv earlier this year. The limited engagement of Some Girl(s), which will be direct by Jo Bonney, ends June 24. - Nathan Burstein and APBeit Habubot go platinum
It was only a matter of time before the announcement of Beit Habubot's next achievement would make headlines. Having conquered radio rotations throughout the country, packing concert venues, and being written up in every major magazine and newspaper it comes as no surprise that the band recently reached platinum status in record sales (40,000 units) for its debut album, Madafim. The honor comes just weeks after Beit Habubot walked away with Group of the Year and Newcomers of the Year prizes at the 2006 AMI Music Awards (Israel's Grammy's).
Amir Atias and Itai Shiff, the two guys who started the popular group, told The Jerusalem Post in an earlier interview that while they believed in their music they never imagined so many others would. "We didn't believe and still don't believe we'd fill clubs," said Atias; while Shiff chimed in that they "are in shock every time by the number of fans who come see us. We are still stunned every time we sellout a show and hear from our manager that hundreds of people were sent home because there wasn't enough room."

Miami-based dancer Alice Alyse is suing the owner and producers of the Broadway musical Movin' Out for more than $100 million in damages on grounds that she was emotionally abused and fired after her breasts grew too big for her costumes. Alyse, a woman in her 20s, claimed at a press conference that the change of cup size occurred naturally as her body matured. Her suit, which was filed last week, lists a whole catalogue of charges including wrongful termination, breach of contract, defamation, sexual harassment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
