2. IN REMEMBRANCE
The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra performs a Holocaust Remembrance Day concert tonight, playing Viktor Ullmann’s Symphony No. 2. Ullmann was a successful composer who worked and died in Theresienstadt concentration camp. Guy Feder (pictured) will conduct, and pianist Daniel Gortler will play Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2.

3. PIANO DELIGHTS
The Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra hosts renowned conductor Christoph von Dohnányi (pictured) and cellist Marie-Elizabeth Hecker for concerts in Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem. On the program are Schuman’s Concerto for Cello and Symphony No. 2 and the Manfred overture. Hecker will also play a chamber concert on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.

4. JAZZ ITALIAN STYLE
Jazz fans will be introduced to 38-year-old Italian jazz pianist Mirko Signorile, who fronts a trio of compatriots that includes double bass player Giorgio Vendola and drummer Fabio Accardi, with Tel Aviv Jazz Festival veteran saxophonist Roberto Ottaviano as part of the Israeli Opera’s jazz series. The repertoire will incorporate diverse material, such as numbers from Signorile’s 2009 release Clessidra (Hourglass) and some from his forthcoming album La primavera del 2012, as well as Signorile’s readings of songs originally written in Hebrew and Yiddish.

Zoaretz tells their story through much-loved songs and prayers in Ladino and Hebrew, starting with the expulsion of Jews from Spain, continuing until their parents’ arrival in Israel. In celebration of Independence Day, The Bloomfield Museum of Science presents “On Natural and Supernatural Forces.” The program includes displays of artwork, interactive displays and demonstrations on natural forces, guided activities on animal instincts and building workshops for young children.
In the arts and crafts workshop, children can make rear-view spy sunglasses that allow the wearer to see what’s behind him or her, and then take them home as a souvenir.
