Rosh Ha’ayin puts its own spin on Independence Day

Local creativity to head Independence Day celebrations.

Contrary to accepted practice in which Israel’s leading performers take center stage at municipal Independence Day celebrations around the country, in Rosh Ha’ayin, the locals are doing their own thing – a la Broadway.
550 adults, youth and children will take part in a mega operetta-cum-pageant headlined “This is just the beginning…”
The story line follows the history of the establishment and development of the state from the fateful United Nations vote on November 29, 1947, through to Ben Gurion’s Declaration of Independence, and moving through the decades until the post-millennium period. The production also includes video clips.
According to director Avi Dor, who also scripted the show, there are several surprises in store, not the least of which is the amazing collection of talent, much of which has previously been untapped.
As far as Dor is concerned, the end result meets with professional standards.
Rosh Ha’ayin Mayor Moshe Sinai says that the encouraging of localcreativity is the responsible thing to do. It gives everyone a chanceto make a contribution of some kind, and that’s what a shared communityenvironment is all about.
People associated with the production note that it teaches history inan indirect fashion by conveying the message through a form ofentertainment that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
The performance will take place on April 19 at 8.30 p.m. in the LevHa’Ir Park, Rehov Marvad Haksmamim 10.  Entry is free of charge, afactor that gives large families the opportunity to celebrate togetherwithout any financial strain.
