Terrorism is a huge issue that affects lives not only in Israel but all over the world, and Channel 1 TV is offering a three-part examination of the phenomenon, starting tonight at 9:45 p.m. The next two parts will be shown on Channel 1 on January 12 and 19, also at 9:45 p.m.Directed by Michael Prazan, the series examines the history of terrorism, through archival footage and interviews with experts. Part one looks at how resistance movements began to use terrorism, including during World War II and fighting in Algeria and British Mandate Palestine. But it will look back even further, into Haitian guerrillas’ fight against Napoleon’s army and anarchists’ attacks in the early 20th century. The second part looks at the terror gangs of the Sixties through the Eighties in Europe and the Middle East and the development of suicide bombings.Part three will examine contemporary terrorism, including al-Qaida.
