Wife says Nobel Laureate Harold Pinter dies at 78

Nobel Laureate Harold Pinter's wife says he has died after a long battle with throat cancer. He was 78. His wife Antonia Fraser says Pinter, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2005, died Wednesday. She says: "It was a privilege to live with him for over 33 years. He will never be forgotten." Pinter was praised as the most influential British playwright of his generation and a loud voice of protest in the political arena. His distinctive contribution to the stage was enshrined in an adjective - "Pinteresque."
