Will Smith soaks up Jewish history [pg.3]

Men in Black actor Will Smith and his actress wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, soaked up a little Jewish history Friday during their lightening-fast trip to Israel over the weekend. Smith, whose private visit was arranged by Los Angeles Consul-General Ehud Danoch, visited the Yitzhak Rabin Center for Israel Studies on Friday and during the tour was treated to a film about the life and legend of the former prime minister. According to reports, Smith and his wife were moved by Rabin's personal story and Jada Pinkett Smith even had tears in her eyes. Smith, who made his name in the TV series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and is a rapper in his own right, told Rabin's daughter Dalia that he would also like "to be a soldier in the army of peace," like her late father. Smith also promised to donate funds to the center, which focuses on remembering and promoting the ideals of Rabin and features a museum, educational wing, library and archive. Following their visit to the center, the Smiths dined at Tel Aviv eatery Raphael's together with Rabin, Danoch, American Ambassador Dick Jones, Likud MK Silvan Shalom and his wife, Judy Shalom Nir Moses. During the meal, Smith said that he had not been afraid to visit Israel. Terrorism happens world over, he said.
