Guitarist Udi Horev will perform a varied program of self-penned works with his Etz Almoni (Anonymous Tree) Quartet next week. The three-date tour starts on December 2, at the Felicja Blumental Center in Tel Aviv, followed by a December 4 show at the Levontin 7 club in Tel Aviv, and ending with a concert at Bet Hagatt in Ein Kerem, Jerusalem on December 5.
Over the last ten years or so Horev has built up a reputation for a high-standard playing, and for the wide range of disciplines into which he dips. Although classically trained Horev also incorporates jazz influences and a variety of inflections and colors from across the world music spectrum.
Besides Horev, the quartet includes acoustic bassist Ora Boasszon-Horev, percussionist Oren Fried and US-born violinist Daniel Hoffman. Hoffman and Horev recently played a well received duet concert at the Jerusalem Cinematheque, as part of this year's Jerusalem Jazz Sessions series. The other members of the quartet also bring their own cultural influences to the collective fray with Fried, in particular, adding strong ethnic colors and textures.
In recent years Horev has toured widely across Europe and China, and released two well-received albums.
