Barrocade -The Israeli Baroque Collective Einav Cultural Center Tel-Aviv October 20 An evening with Barrocade proves that Baroque music can offer a real treat under the right circumstances. This evening included young performers of an international level, and enthusiastic audience and a brilliant. A relatively new ensemble, Barrocade consists of a superb group of players who employ period instruments (or their replicas) and a historically informed interpretation of music. Like their fellow groups around the globe, they play without a conductor, yet maintain perfect balance and coordination though their musicianship. The opening concert featured a lovely all-Vivaldi program. Its first part presented four concertos, each highlighting different soloists. Harvesting the most applause was the "Concerto for Mandolin" with soloist Jacob Reuven. All three others were equally beautiful, played with uncommon energy and liveliness. One seldom encounters such zest and high spirit at classical concerts nowadays. The second part presented soprano Ye'ela Avital, previously hailed here as one of the country's best Baroque singers. Presenting a modest, impressive stage appearance, Avital sang Vivaldi's coloraturas (the Motet "Laudate Pueri") with all the required brilliance, subtlety and style. It was a performance to savor. Barrocade is still paving its way on the local scene, and has only three more concerts scheduled for this season. Offering innovative programs, great performance level and a young, happy atmosphere, they are well worth watching.
