UK indie rock bands Klaxons and Editors have been added to the growing line-up of an exciting, one-of-a-kind summer festival set to take place on two separate dates at the Exhibition Grounds in Tel Aviv. The two headliners of the PICNIC festival, Placebo and the Pixies, were announced months ago. Now it seems that they will be joined by two of the most interesting bands on the scene – and award-winning ones at that.
Birmingham’s Editors first gained popularity in 2005 with their hitsong “Munich,” and went on to become a platinum-selling staple of indiemusic. The London-based Klaxons, meanwhile, have dedicated themselvessince 2007 to reinventing dance music by stretching the limits of rock’n’ roll. Their debut album, Myths of the NearFuture, was awarded a Mercury Prize.
On June 5, Israeli-bred New York-based duo Hank & Cupcakes willopen for Gorillaz Sound System, Klaxons and Placebo. Four days later,on June 9, Israeli hard rock duo Carusella will open for Editors andthe Pixies.
A limited number of combo tickets for both days of thefestival is available for NIS 595 at Kastel Tickets (www.TKTS.co.il,03-6045000 or *8965). Tickets for June 5 can be bought separately forNIS 295; tickets for June 9 cost NIS 425, and are almost sold out.
