Heavy metal pioneers Megadeth returning to play Tel Aviv

For metal heads who prefer a more intimate show, former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman will also be heading to Israel.

Hard rock veterans Megadeth will be making their fourth appearance in Israel on April 16 at the Tel Aviv Exhibition Center. Their most recent show here was in 2007 before 4,000 fans at Hangar 11.
Led by former Metallica guitarist Dave Mustaine, Megadeth rose to international fame in the 1980s as one of the “Big Four of Thrash,” along with Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax.
With more than 25 million albums sold worldwide and nine Grammy nominations, they’ve remained one of the most successful heavy metal bands of all time. Mustaine has remained the only constant in the band, and despite his latter-day identification with Christianity, they’ve retained their musical ferociousness.
For metal heads who prefer a more intimate shows, former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman will also be heading to Tel Aviv for a show at Reading 3 on May 31. Friedman, who is Jewish and played “Hatikva” when he last performed here at the Jaffa Club in 2007, was Megadeth’s lead guitarist from 1990-2000 before leaving the band, moving to Japan and launching a solo career.
