Aerosmith pays tribute to IDF soldiers Rock band Aerosmith dedicated the group's song "Dream On" to abducted IDF soldier Ehud Goldwasser during a New York concert this week, Israeli media reported. The dedication came at the request of Goldwasser's wife, Karnit. Ehud Goldwasser was kidnapped along with fellow reserve soldier Eldad Regev by Hizbullah on July 12. His wife is in New York this week to attend meetings at the annual UN General Assembly, together with her husband's family and Regev's brother. In an interview with Army Radio, Karnit Goldwasser said that her husband loves Aerosmith, and that she was moved to tears when vocalist Steven Tyler dedicated the song to the abducted soldiers. - Israel21c Rehovot wraps up film festival The third annual Women in the Picture Film Festival concluded earlier this week in Rehovot with a documentary by Tali Shemesh, The Cemetery Club, named the festival's top submission. The film, about a group of elderly Israelis who meet regularly to discuss history, literature and other topics, also won a prize at Tel Aviv's DocAviv Film Festival in April. Shemesh will receive $3,500 from the city of Rehovot as part of her latest award. More than 6,500 men, women and children attended the female-themed festival, which began last Wednesday and featured more than 70 movies shown at screenings around the city. An Indian filmmaker, Aparna Sen, attended the screenings of three of her films during the festival. - Nathan Burstein Overnight music fest moved to Haifa After being postponed and then officially cancelled due to the war against Hizbullah, the Coca Cola Music Festival has been revived. Moved from Tel Aviv to the Haifa port, the rescheduled festival kicks off at 4 p.m. Thursday and continues until eight the following morning, with many of the year's top musical acts set to perform over the course of the 16-hour event. Harel Moyal, Shay Gabso, Idan Reichel, Din Din Aviv and Ivri Lider will each perform a 45-minute set during the night, with Moyal taking the stage at 8:30 p.m. and Lider finishing up his performance three hours later. Ninet Tayeb, currently dominating local album and singles charts with her debut CD, takes the stage at 1:15 a.m., while one of the year's biggest breakouts, Beit Habubot, will wrap up its performance shortly before 6 a.m. The festival, which sold out last week, will draw some 40,000 attendees for its celebratory year-end concerts. - Nathan Burstein
