From May 20 to June 6, and in Jerusalem for the first time, iconic violinist Yitzhak Perlman and his team of master teachers will offer 42 gifted young musicians the chance to hone their art via the Perlman Music Program. The instructors include violinists Miriam Fried (US), Hagai Shaham (Israel), cellist Paul Katz (US), choir-master Patrick Romano (US) and Tayseer Elias (Israel) for Arabic music.The students, half from Israel and half from Perlman Programs around the world, will receive not only individual instruction, but master classes that will develop their chamber ensemble skills. They will also participate daily in choir singing under Romano, and from Elias they will get an introduction to the beauties of classical Arab music.Perlman’s wife, Toby, runs the programs, which she founded in 1993 to train outstanding string-players in a nurturing environment.There are concerts, rehearsals and master classes open to the public for a paltry NIS 20 per ticket.
