Break out the hacky sack and the tie-dye – one of the top US jam bands, Gov’t Mule featuring Warren Haynes, will be making their Israeli debut on June 18 at Reading 3 in Tel Aviv. Haynes, one of the top blues rock guitarist working today, has ably filled the shoes over the last two decades of two guitar giants – Duane Allman and Jerry Garcia.
Serving as full time lead guitarist in The Allman Brothers Band since1989, Haynes has also appeared in various Grateful Dead spinoff groupsand last year toured with the re-formed Dead minus original lateguitarist Garcia.Gov’t Mule, the quartet Haynes formed in 1994 with fellow AllmanBrothers’ member, the late Allen Woody, mines a similar vein as that ofthe Allman Brothers and the Dead, with even more of an emphasis onguitar solos provided by the explosive Haynes.
