In ancient Israel lies the home of the Macabbees... In modern Israel on the very same spot is a small town named in their honour- Hashmonaim. A group of children from Hashmo bring the story of Hanukkah to life as modern day Kung Fu and Ballerina Macabbees. On a rainy day in Kislev when Shalom and Matan (the two youngest Kung Fu Maccabees) were home sick from school they wrote their own version of of the Kung Fu Panda song "Kung Fu Fighting" and changed it to "Chanukka Lighting" (with a little help from their Mom, Sarah Nadav- for full disclosure, I am their proud momma). The kids invited their friends to come make a movie with them. Our awesome neighbor Dena Lerner decided we should make it into a video and "Kung Fu Maccabbees: Chanuka Lighting" was born (her daughters are the two light pink ballerinas). All the parents got involved and roped in friends and family to get it this video done (see the credits below for a full list of everyone who made this happen). Special thanks to Robin Greenspan for doing a great job filming the video, Shani Friedlander for amazing editing, and Happening at the Modi''in mall for providing the angry birds. Huge thanks to Jon Nelson from Eden Mi Qedem who did a rock star job singing and mixing the song. He has a band called Eden Mi Quedem and they are available to play at concerts and events throughout Israel (they ROCKED my wedding- best.band.ever.) http://www.edenmiqedem.com/.Lyrics Everybody isHanuka lightingOur driedle isfast as lightningAntiochus was alittle bit frighteningIt''s the book of Hanu-kathat we’re writingYeah, the Jews they had it roughWhen they couldn’t prayThe Greeks they loved their artThe Macabees would not be swayedThey thought that they would breakthey thought that it would endBut the Macabees said they would fight‘Cause we have got to winEverybody isHanuka lightingOur dreidel’s fastAs lightningAlthough the storyIs a little bit frighteningIt''s the book of HanukaThat we''re writingIt’s so naturalWhy is it so hard to seeMaybe it''s just becauseThat we need to be freeNo matter what they sayThe truth is what we knowWhen someone takes you downYou got to be your own heroEverybody isHanuka lightingOur driedle isfast as lightningAntiochus was alittle bit frighteningIt''s the book of Hanu-ka that we’re writingThe temple, it was brokeand all the little pots of clayWith little oil left to startNo one knew from day to dayWhen the flame burned on and onThey prayed that it would stayAnd the miracle of Hanukawe celebrate until todayEverybody isHanuka lightingOur driedle isfast as lightningAntiochus was alittle bit frighteningIt''s the book of Hanu-kathat we’re writingCast and CrewThe Ninjas-Shalom NadavMatan NadavEitan GreenThe Ballerinas-Aliza GreenspanAshira GreenMiriam GreenSpanThe Greeks- Dina LiebermanMoshe LiebermanYossi LiebermanYehudah LiebermanVoice TalentJon NelsonWriter Sarah NadavCamera woman Robin GreenspanEditorShani FriedlanderDirector Dena LernerProducers Esti GreenElisheva LiebermanExceutive producer Sarah NadavDena Lernerspecial thanks to Dave NadavShimon Greenspan
