12 years for hostel worker who raped a disabled patient

The Central District Court in Petah Tikva on Tuesday sentenced hostel worker Meir Abohi to 12 years in prison for raping a disabled patient in his care.
The court also ordered Abohi to pay the victim NIS 60,000 in compensation.
According to the indictment, 41-year-old Abohi was a care worker in a hostel for people with disabilities between 2002 - 2004. He raped the victim, a hostel resident, after becoming angry with her when she pulled at his clothes.
Abohi, who suffered from AIDS during his employment at the hostel, was also charged in the indictment with infecting the rape victim with HIV. However, the court ruled that it could not be proven beyond reasonable doubt that he had done so.
The court also sentenced Abohi on Tuesday to a further 8 months in prison for indecently assaulting a female care worker in the same hostel, and ordered him to compensate the victim with NIS 10,000.
