17 killed, one injured in Polish bus crash

WARSAW, Poland — Polish police on Tuesday stated that a small bus carrying workers crashed head-on with a truck in central Poland, killing 17 people.
A spokeswoman for the regional police, Magdalena Siczek-Zalewska, said the crash occurred early Tuesday morning on a local road near Nowe Miasto, some 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of Warsaw.
She said one person was hospitalized with serious injuries. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
