18-year-old stabbing suspect released due to police blunder

Due to a media leak, the Tel Aviv District Court was forced to release to house arrest an 18-year-old man from Givatayim, accused of stabbing a teenager that refused to give him a cigarette. The suspect was released due to the fact that the police failed to issue an order against publishing his photograph. By the time he was supposed to appear in a police lineup, his identity was revealed. The identifying witness, who was interviewed in the media, had seen the photo of the accused several hours before she identified him in the lineup.
