Two rabbis who received writs to appear before investigators regarding their written concurring opinions with the positions of the Yitzhar rabbi who was investigated for race-based incitement have refused to appear before police, Channel 2 reported on Monday evening.
Rabbi Yaakov Yosef, son of Shas spiritual mentor Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, and Rabbi Dov Lior from the settlement of Kiryat Arba, were both summoned by police seeking to investigate their support of the opinions of Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira. Shapira, from the settlement of Yitzhar, wrote in his book Torat Hamelech
[The King's Law] under which circumstances it is permissible according to the Torah to kill Gentiles, including the killing of the children of an enemy in wartime if they would present a future threat to the Jewish people.Lior, who was to appear in front of investigators on Monday in Lod, refused to show at his meeting with police. People close to Yosef Monday stated that he would also refuse to appear in front of police on Tuesday as was scheduled.
