200 Gazans protest Egypt's closure of tunnels in Rafah

Some 200 Gazans protested in Rafah on Saturday against Egypt's closure of smuggling tunnels leading from the Sinai Peninsula into the coastal territory, AFP reported.
"We call on our Egyptian brothers to stop their campaign against the tunnels which have been dug to allow Palestinians to overcome the blockade imposed by Israel in the Gaza Strip," AFP quoted local Hamas leader Mansur Barak as saying at the protest.
Egypt began sealing and destroying the tunnels after terrorists killed 16 Egyptian border guards in Sinai last month. Egyptian authorities believe that at least some of the terrorists may have entered Sinai through tunnels from Gaza.
