3 men facing US terrorism trial in Brooklyn to plead guilty

NEW YORK - A former British citizen and two Swedish citizens said on Tuesday they will plead guilty to one conspiracy count rather than face trial on US terrorism charges they provided material support to the Islamic terrorist group al Shabaab in Somalia.
Madhi Hashi, 25, whose UK citizenship was revoked in 2012, and Swedish citizens Ali Yasin Ahmed, 30, and Mohamed Yusuf, 32, said in federal court in Brooklyn they would plead guilty to a single count of conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.
Prosecutors said that from 2008 to 2012, the three men participated in weapons and explosives training with members and associates of al-Qaida-allied al Shabaab and agreed to support its agenda.
