3 police injured by mob during arrest near Rahat

Three police officers were injured while attempting to arrest a wanted suspect in the Beduin town of Tarbin Hadasha, near Rahat, a police spokeswoman said Tuesday.  Officers were assaulted and pelted with rocks by a mob that had surrounded them, the spokeswoman added. Officers from the Rahat police station were deployed to the area to back up police on the scene.
One officer was moderately wounded and taken to the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, while two other officers were lightly wounded and treated on the scene.
Eight suspects - including an elementary school principal, were arrested on suspicion of assaulting police.  Eight suspects arrested on suspicion of attacking police, including an elementary school principal. "Additional arrests are expected," the spokeswoman said.
