Prison guards discovered an inmate who committed suicide in his cell in the Hadarim Prison in the Sharon area on Saturday.
The 39-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, used a sheet to hang himself from the ladder of the top bunk bed.
IPS guards and medics tried to resuscitate him, but eventually pronounced his death.
