8 detained as Sheikh Jarrah protesters clash with police

About 250 locals and left-wing protesters in Sheikh Jarrah were stopped by police on Friday when they attempted to march toward the Jewish houses in the east Jerusalem neighborhood.
Police announced that such a march would be illegal and ordered the protesters to return to the site of the demonstration. When they refused to do so, police pushed them back by force. They then began to chant slogans targeting the Jews in the neighborhood.
Eight demonstrators were detained following the incident.
