Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas called Shas leader Arye Deri Tuesday night to express condolences on the October 7 death of the party's mentor, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef. Deri told Abbas that the people of Israel desire peace but the Palestinians needed to prove that they were interested in a peace that would be genuine.Yosef expressed harsh criticism of the Palestinians on multiple occasions, calling them snakes and their Muslim faith stupid.
