Abbas: Direct talks only after progress in proximity talks

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said Saturday that direct talks with Israel will only take place once there is progress in proximity talks.
Abbas reiterated the Palestinian stance after speaking with US President Barak Obama on Friday.
At a speech in Ramallah Abbas referred to Obama's demands to open direct contact and said that if there is an advancement in proximity talks then direct negotiations may take place.
