Abbas: Olmert negotiations would have succeeded

Had the peace talks between then-Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas continued, they would have succeeded, Abbas said on Sunday.
Meeting with Kadima and Labor MKs, Likud activists and mayors in the context of the Geneva Initiative, Abbas said, "There were no failures in the negotiations, we reached agreement on all the core issues. I'm sure that if negotiations continued, within two months we would have reached an agreement," Abbas said.
Negotiations between Olmert and Abbas came to an abrupt halt when Olmert resigned in the face of corruption charges in 2008, though Abbas failed to answer Olmert's last offer in the days leading up to the resignation.
