Abbas receives delegation of Israeli Sephardim

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday met with Israelis from the Mizrahi Democratic Rainbow Coalition, an apolitical, non-parliamentary social movement of Sephardi Jews whose goal is to affect the current public agenda and bring change into Israeli society.
Abbas stressed the importance of Sephardi Jews in boosting the prospects of peace on the basis of a two-state solution, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported. The representatives, who met with Abbas in his office, briefed him about the goals of their organization, which, according to its website has been active in four main fields: land, employment and unemployment, education and activity in the form of coalitions.
According to Wafa, Abbas also emphasized the PA’s efforts to achieve peace “despite the negative atmosphere surrounding the peace process.”
