Abbas to meet with Sarkozy over PA UN bid

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and French President Nicolas Sarkozy are planning to meet in Paris this week over the Palestinian bid for statehood recognition at the UN, PA Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki said according to AFP on Tuesday.

Malki told AFP that the Palestinian leadership would meet with Sarkozy because France is "also permanent member of the Security Council."

Abbas was in Colombia Tuesday for a meeting with President Juan Manuel Santos over the Palestinian Authority's UN ambitions, and would depart for Paris from there, according to AFP.
