Accused Christmas Day 'underwear' bomber to plead guilty

DETROIT - The Nigerian man accused of trying to blow up a US airliner on Christmas Day 2009 with a bomb in his underwear told the federal judge overseeing his trial on Wednesday that he wants to plead guilty to all the charges against him.
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is charged with eight felonies, including conspiracy to commit an act of terrorism, attempted murder and attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction. He faces life in prison if convicted.
Opening statements and testimony in Abdulmutallab's trial began on Tuesday.
