ADL to EU: Label Hezbollah terrorists after Cyprus charges

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is calling on the EU to designate Hezbollah a terrorist organization, after Hossam Taleb Yaacoub, a Swedish and Lebanese citizen and self-proclaimed member of Hezbollah, plead guilty to charges of conspiracy to attack Israeli tourists in Cyprus.
"The conviction of a Hezbollah member in Cyprus for preparing an attack on Israeli tourists should put an end to the EU’s hesitation to designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization," said ADL National Director Abe Foxman.
After Bulgaria found Hezbollah responsible for a July Burgas bus bombing, the "unambiguous and unanimous" decision that Hezbollah tried to do the same in Cyprus shows that "Hezbollah engages in terrorism on European soil," Foxman added.
He said that labeling Hezbollah as a terrorist group would be a "meaningful counter-terrorism measure" that would be "morally and strategically right" and "can not wait until the next attack."
"There’s no excuse for inaction," stressed Foxman.
