Aide says Obama inspired by rescue of miners

WASHINGTON — The White House says President Barack Obama thinks the rescue of Chilean miners is a "truly inspirational story with a very happy ending."
Press secretary Robert Gibbs says Obama watched some of the rescue operation on television and was struck by the collective effort to rescue the 33 miners. The first group of workers was pulled out of the mine overnight.
Gibbs said that Obama hopes to reach out to the heads of some of the American operators, including NASA, that played a role in the rescue.
Obama also plans to telephone Chilean President Sebastian Pinera.
