AJC lauds EU on Iran Central Bank, oil sanctions

Jewish advocacy groups on Monday praised the European Union for introducing new sanctions against Iran earlier in the day. The American Jewish Committee said it believed the decision would help stop the Islamic Republic’s rogue nuclear program and the possibility that it might develop nuclear weapons.
“The international message to the Iranian regime to stop its nuclear-weapons program could not be clearer,” said AJC Executive Director David Harris. “The 27-nation European Union today has taken bold new steps, joining with the US and its own member country Great Britain, in imposing crippling sanctions against Iran’s key banking and energy sectors.”
