Akunis: The opposition always automatically stands with the Palestinians
By LAHAV HARKOV
Likud Deputy Minister Ophir Akunis on Monday responded to opposition claims that the government was responsible for the failure of peace talks, accusing the opposition of "automatically standing with the Palestinians."Speaking at a special meeting of the Knesset plenum on the floundering peace talks, Akunis placed the blame for the deterioration of peace talks on Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas."The fact is Abbas said no to Obama and Kerry's framework document. They wouldn't even discuss recognizing a Jewish State," he said."The US spent the last eight months mostly pressuring Israel, and the Palestinians spit in their faces. That's the only truth," he added. "Every time we come close to a decision, the Palestinians run away."
