Al-Qaida affiliate claims responsibility for Iraq bombings-statement

BAGHDAD - An al-Qaida-affiliated group claimed responsibility for a wave of car bombings across Iraq that killed at least 60 people on Monday.
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, which was formed earlier this year through a merger between al-Qaida's affiliates in Iraq and Syria, said in a statement posted online it had carried out the attacks in response to the mistreatment of the Sunni community.
