Al-Qaida deputy attacks leaders as 'Zionists'

Al-Qaida deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri mockingly derided many Middle Eastern leaders as "Arab Zionists" on an audio recording posted on and Islamist website on Monday, AFP reported.
"These Arab Zionists are more dangerous than Jewish Zionists," Zawahiri was quoted as saying by AFP in the recording.
Zawahiri cast especially venomous remarks towards Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, holding him responsible for much of the suffering in Gaza.
"Who is besieging our people in Gaza and is surrounding them with an underground metal fence? Is he not the chief of Arab Zionists Hosni Mubarak?" Zawahiri fumed.
Other Arab leaders who came in for specific opprobrium for their alleged "Zionism" were Jordan's king Abdullah II, Saudi King Abdullah and Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmud Abbas of all being "Zionists."
