Albanian police arrest 3 in alleged murder plan

TIRANA, Albania  — Police said they have arrested three people suspected of conspiring to murder someone at an anti-government protest.
Police said in a statement Sunday that the three people were "securing material means to commit a murder" during Friday's protest rally staged by the Socialist Party to honor three supporters killed during a violent protest earlier this month.
Police did not release details, but the private News24 TV channel reported that the planned attack was aimed at opposition Socialist leader Edi Rama.
Rama is insisting on the resignation of Prime Minister Sali Berisha's government for alleged corruption and claims that the conservatives rigged the 2009 vote.
Berisha has refused to resign and accuses the opposition of trying to stage a coup.
