Alleged 2015 Charleston church shooter, Dylann Roof, assaulted in prison

Dylann Roof, the 22-year-old man who allegedly shot nine black congregants at a Charleston, S.C. church in 2015, was attacked in prison, CNN reports.
Another inmate, Dwayne Stafford, left his cell and assaulted Roof in the shower on Thursday morning, leaving Roof with bruising to his back and face.
The sheriff's office reported that Roof, who is held in protective custody, did not want to press charges.
Roof faces the death penalty on charges of 33 federal offenses, including hate crimes.
