Almagor: Prosecution mulled death penalty for Fogel killers

The prosecution considered demanding the death penalty for the Fogel family murderers, the Almagor Terror Victims Association said in a statement Monday.

The Association said that sources claimed that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak intervened, and "sweetened the punishment of the vile murderers."

"Now it's only a matter of time before they are released and in which kidnapping," the association said, referring to the Gilad Schalit prisoner swap.

A military court on Tuesday sentenced one of the Fogel family murderers in Itamar to five life sentences, following his conviction in the murders last month.
