TEHERAN, Iran — One of three Americans jailed in Iran says the loneliness of captivity is the hardest part in the first public comments from the trio since their arrest in July.
Iranian authorities arrested Sarah Shourd, her boyfriend Shane Bauer and their friend, Josh Fattal along the Iraqi border some 10 months ago. Iran has accused them of spying.
Shourd told reporters Thursday that their treatment has been "decent," but added that "it's really difficult being alone." She said Bauer and Fattal were held together, but she was alone. That, she said, was "the most difficult thing for me."
She spoke while sitting next to the Bauer and Fattal and their mothers, who are in Iran to try to secure the release of their children.
