Amid N. Korea crisis, US envoy to UN Power postpones Israel visit

US ambassador to the UN Samantha Power is postponing a trip to Israel originally scheduled for later this week, and will likely visit in February instead, a Foreign Ministry official said Sunday.
Power, who has not been in the country since taking over her post at the UN in 2013, was originally scheduled to visit Israel and the Palestinian Authority from January 15-19.
In addition to meeting senior government officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, she was also scheduled to address a conference at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) at Tel Aviv University.
Through no formal reason for the postponement was given, Ynet reported that it had to do with US efforts to pass a resolution in the UN Security Council condemning North Korea for its nuclear test last week.
