A man died after setting himself alight in an open area off Derech Hatayasim in south Tel Aviv on Sunday.
The man's identity is still unknown, and police on Sunday afternoon took a DNA sample in an attempt to try to figure out who he was.
In mid-October, a 55-year-old father of two was hospitalized in critical condition after he set himself on fire on Yisrael M'salant street in south Tel Aviv, not long after he became embroiled in debts to the gray market and a dispute with his landlord over unpaid rent.
There has been a series of such incidents in Israel since July 14, 2012, when Haifa native Moshe Silman set himself on fire at a social justice protest in Tel Aviv. Silman died the day after.
