Sabbar Kashur, 30, who was sentenced last week to 18 months in prison as part of a plea bargain for rape by deception, appealed his sentence to the High Court of Justice on Thursday.
Kashur, a Jerusalem Arab, told a woman in 2008 that he was a single Jew and they had sex soon after. The court ruled that this constituted rape by deception.
In the appeal, his attorney said that the District Court didn't take into account the fact that mere minutes passed between the initial meeting when the lie was told and the consummation of the sexual act.
