Some 55,000 Muslim worshippers gathered at the Temple Mount for the first Ramadan Friday prayers, according to Israel Police estimates.
The service ended peacefully, police said.
Large police forces were deployed in the area, as worshippers exiting the holy site have rioted in the past.
