Col. Reut Retig-Weiss was awarded her promotion to Col.-Capt. on Thursday and became the first woman to be a brigade commander in IDF history, the IDF Spokesperson Unit announced.
Retig-Weiss was awarded her promotion by IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi and will begin her role as commander of a brigade in the artillery corps.
