Gilad Erdan to remain UN ambassador, won't run in Likud primaries

Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan announced on Thursday evening he will not put himself forward as a candidate in the Likud Party's primaries ahead of the upcoming election, instead opting to remain in his post as Israel's international ambassador.

Erdan's "experience of defending the State of Israel and its interests in the international community" was key in making the decision, the ambassador explained.
