A tropical storm warning is in effect for the Gulf coast of Mexico from Boca de Catan northward to the mouth of Rio Grande river as a system over it has an 80% chance of developing into a cyclone in the next 48 hours, the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Friday.
The disturbance is forecast to become a tropical storm on Friday night or on Saturday, the NHC added.
