Deputy mayor detained for smuggling Ukrainian woman into Israel

A deputy mayor of a city in central Israel was detained and questioned at the National Fraud Investigations Unit in Lahav 433 on suspicion of helping a woman from Ukraine enter the country illegally on Friday, according to Israel Police.

The deputy mayor was released under restrictive conditions and the Ukrainian's detention was extended until October 23 as the investigation continues.
