Beaches closed in Tel Aviv, Bat Yam, Herzliya due to pollution

Following heavy rain in central Israel over the weekend, the Health Ministry has closed the beaches in Tel Aviv, Bat Yam and Herzliya due to pollution concerns, it said on Sunday.

Rainwater combined with city street runoff flowed into the sewage system which was released from the Reading Station outlet in Tel Aviv into the ocean.

The Health Ministry has issued a warning against swimming in the affected areas until the rain stops and the water levels return to normal.
