A guard at Ramon Prison was detained on Tuesday on suspicion of having smuggled cellphones to a security prisoner serving a life sentence in the segregated wing of the prison, according to an Israel Police spokesperson.
The police opened an investigation into the guard three weeks ago and suspect that he was smuggling the phones in exchange for money paid to him by the prisoner's brother.
The guard was taken in for further interrogation.
